The Hampton Community Development Corporation (HCDC), is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, tax exempt Community Development Corporation. It was organized by the Hampton University Business Assistance Center (HUBAC) in 1992.

HCDC’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in the City of Hampton, Virginia. In concert with various entities of Hampton University, including the HUBAC, and other segments of the local community, HCDC is charged with developing and implementing a plan of revitalization to provide housing and housing opportunities for low and moderate-income families, and for the revitalization of local businesses and business opportunities for the purpose of enhancing employment opportunities. The Board of Directors of the HCDC includes local community residents, business people, and employees of Hampton University.

In carrying out its mission, HCDC endeavors to assist those citizens most in need, by:

  • Creating employment opportunities for low-income individuals;
     
  • Providing business development opportunities;
     
  • Providing career development opportunities for low-income individuals and for persons who are currently under-employed;
     
  • Providing employment opportunities for low-income individuals;
     
  • Increasing self sufficiency levels; and
     
  • Decreasing poverty and unemployment.
