This seminar requires the student to reflect on the volunteer service he/she has given and the learning that resulted from that service. Students should have completed at least 50 Hours of community service prior to enrolling in the class.

In this seminar students will investigate the impact of dietary choices on their own health and well being as well as that of the environment. Some topics that will be addressed are obesity and diabetes epidemics in the African American community, the role of fast-food in the American diet, alternative ways of eating for health and environmental sustainability, the link between poverty and malnutrition.

This seminar will focus on the importance of sports to society from an economic, political, and social perspective.

Wednesdays 4:00

This seminar will expose students to games that are played using mathematics. Some of the games that the participants will play are Hare and Hounds, Tower of Hanoi, Poker, Sudoku, Peg Solitaire, and Fiver.

In this seminar, students will take a cross disciplinary approach towards addressing a variety of topics using logic, persuasion, argumentation, and debate. The intent is for students to practice the art of presenting a solid case with sound arguments.

Tuesdays 5:00

This seminar will expose students to opera and the various facets that comprise an operatic production. It will also focus on major artists to include the contributions of African American artists, conductors, and composers. Students will have the opportunity to attend performances as well as to participate in a workshop activity.

Wednesdays 4:00

In this seminar, students will investigate resources and sharpen skills that are required to become marketable and successful in securing entry and financing for graduate studies and/or the upper echelons of the workforce.

Wednesdays 5:00

In this seminar participants will investigate the links between culture and disputes. They will focus on negotiating and understanding the communication process, conflict mediation and confrontation involved in imporatant relationships.

Tuesdays 4:30

This seminar will examine race relations in the 21st Century. What does Jim Crow's offsprings look like today? Are race relations really better?

This seminar will afford students the opportunity to explore issues facing higher education from the perspective of the federal, state and local government and professional organizations.

Thursdays 5:00

In this seminar students will explore vital issues such as how to purchase a home, the importance of your credit report, the cost of health care, job benefits, and other issues that may thwart or boost one's succes after college.

Mondays 5:00

This seminar will introduce the participants to the basic parliamentary procedures that are needed for effective meetings. Seminar activites are particularly designed not only for those who wish to become skillful leaders but also savvy members of a group.

Tuesdays 4:00

Building on the cardinal principle - "the wise use of leisure time," the participants in this seminar will learn to play Bridge.

Thursdays 6:00-8:00

This seminar is for seniors who are completing requirements for graduation with Honors College endorsement.
