The mission of the Hampton University School
of Business is to produce professionals, leaders and scholars
of strong character for the technology-based global marketplace.
Our goal is to deliver relevant business education, practical
application experiences and behavioral competencies to achievement-oriented
undergraduate and graduate students. Although teaching is our
primary emphasis, faculty shall continuously engage in research
and grantsmanship to provide a curriculum that is appropriate
for successful business practice.

The School
of Business was established in September
1898. The first business course was offered to a small group
of students to provide skills in managing small businesses. Today,
the school enrolls 1,200 graduate and undergraduate students.
The School of Business is among the top producers
of African-American undergraduate business baccalaureates. Students
command excellent salaries and are actively recruited by Fortune
500 companies. Approximately 25% of the School
of Business graduates pursue advanced
degrees, predominantly in business and law school programs.

is continuously listed in the U.S. News & World Report
as one of the top 15 colleges in its geographic region. In 2004, it was the top ranked co-ed HBCU on Black Enterprise's list of Top 50 Colleges for African Americans."
Students
in the School of Business may pursue majors in one of eight (8) areas: Accounting,
Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Entrepreneurship,
Management, and Marketing. At the graduate level, an MBA program
is offered, in two configurations. The curriculum includes a thorough
liberal arts foundation, a business core and various options of
functional specializations. All programs are designed to foster
a stimulating intellectual environment which is crucial to the
development of leaders, managers and business owners of tomorrow. A

Internships are encouraged
of each student throughout the school. The actualization of skills
in the work environment is an invaluable phase of the development
process. In addition, students can participate in a variety of
business clubs which provide the opportunity to interact with business
professionals and develop leadership and organizational
skills.

business students are heavily recruited by Fortune 500 corporations. In 2005, the National Urban Leagues' Black Executive Exchange Program awarded the Hampton University School of Business the prestigious Cal Darden Campus Leadership Award, designating the Hampton program as 'Best in the Nation.'"
Our students
come from many geographical areas, creating an environment of
intellectual and experiential diversity. Keeping with the Hampton tradition, the School of Business has a high standard of
excellence and expects nothing less of its students and faculty. Hampton graduates are well-prepared to provide
solutions to complex problems and recognize global issues in
society.

There are 35 full-time and part-time faculty in
the School of Business. Of this group 80% have terminal degrees. Faculty
are selected from a multi-cultural background to provide
diversity of thought and to complement the student population. Faculty
are constantly engaged in developing innovative methods
of teaching, conducting scholarly research and participating in
student mentorship.
The School of Business is committed to fostering a scholarly climate that inspires
critical thinking, creativity, a free and open exchange of ideas,
and intellectual curiosity and integrity.
