School of Business - Economics
  Entrepreneurship

Dr. Sharad Maheshwari Info Systems Lecture

Entrepreneurship prepares students for: a) leadership opportunities in family owned businesses, b) business ownership, and c) employment in high growth industries. Most entrepreneurs obtain experience in a particular industry or with a specific product prior to launching their venture. We encourage students to acquire industry, product specific knowledge and/or graduate school prior to launching their ventures.

The Entrepreneurship program endeavors to produce graduates who are able to:

  1. describe a viable business opportunity;
  2. measure the financial and market potential;
  3. analyze the financial and market risks of a business opportunity;
  4. discuss the elements of an effective business plan;
  5. describe various negotiating strategies;
  6. apply the management techniques required for a rapidly growing business;
  7. perform well in environments described as unstructured, project driven and team oriented;
  8. discuss the requirements to attract capital to a new venture;
  9. identify sources of capital available for new ventures; and,
  10. discuss the technology trends most likely to create new business opportunities within five years.
