The Department of Electrical Engineering offers two programs leading to the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree: Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Concentrations are offered in Control Systems, Communications Systems and Electromagnetics-Optics within the Electrical Engineering program. The department strives to provide an enriching environment in which learning occurs naturally in an atmosphere of exploration of the world around us.
Electrical Engineering programs cover many areas including Digital Systems, Communications, Control Systems, Energy Conversion, Microprocessors, Computer Architecture, Electromagnetic Waves, Computer Engineering Design, etc.
Electrical Engineering students at HU have the opportunity to participate in many professional organizations such as IEEE, NSBE, BWE, etc., and meet students from other departments with similar interests.
While students spend most of their time on the beautiful campus of Hampton University, Hampton Roads extends from the historic sites of Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown to the sand dunes of Virginia Beach with cultural and entertainment activities of the Virginia Symphony, the Virginia Opera, Ferguson Center for the Arts, Chrysler Museum, the Hampton Coliseum, etc. in Norfolk, Hampton and Newport News. There is much to see and do.
