Student Achievement Profile Exit Requirements

Freshmen entering the department receive from the Chairman a guide for the development of a professional portfolio. The student will build this folio through course work.

Intership

Upon completion of all course requirements majors are required to complete a 10 week 400 hour internship at an approved site. The internship experience is designed to provide the major with an intensive exposure the Recreation Programming. The departmental advisor must approve internship sites before the student begins the internship.

This major prepares one to lead and serve in an administrative and supervisory position in the field of recreation. Graduates may seek employment in the following:

  • Health Club Managers
  • Tourism Professionals
  • Aquatic Supervisors
  • Camp Directors
  • Special Events Coordinators
  • Public Park & Recreation Programs Campus Recreation Coordinators
  • Park Rangers
