Rasán M. Holmes received both the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance and the Master in Teaching degree from Hampton University in 1998 and 2000, respectively. As Assistant Director of Bands, Mr. Holmes is solely responsible for arranging and composing music to be performed by the Hampton University Marching Band at all of their public performances. Many of his arrangements have been sought after and performed by public school music programs across the country.
In addition to his duties with the band program, Mr. Holmes teaches Applied Trombone, where he has established a viable trombone ensemble, Applied Low Brass, and Arranging and Orchestration. Mr. Holmes has also served as a Guest Clinician for the Hampton and Newport News Public Schools’ Honor Bands, and Brass and String Ensemble Arranger for the Hampton University Minister's Conference and Choir Director and Organist's Guild.
His professional memberships include: Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity, Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Music Educators National Conference, College Band Director’s National Association, The National Band Association, The Midwest Band Director’s Conference, and The International Trombone Association.
