Adam Johnson

--Assistant Professor

Mr. Johnson joined the Hampton Psychology department in the Fall semester of 2006. Prior to teaching at Hampton, Mr. Johnson earned a B.S. in Psychology from Ball State University in 2001 and an M.A. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Central Michigan University in 2004. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Industrial-Organizational Psychology program at Central Michigan University.

Mr. Johnson teaches courses in statistics and personality, and is developing an advanced Industrial-Organizational (I/O) sequence for psychology majors and an applied course in the psychology of advertising. His research interests include organizational cynicism, occupational stress, persuasion, and job attitudes. He has also focused on the applications of I/O Psychology in law enforcement. In addition, Mr. Johnson is interested in the evolving use of technology in the classroom, such as the expansion of traditional teaching formats to include movies, internet sites, and specialized computer software.

Outside the classroom, Mr. Johnson has many hobbies and interests. He is an avid movie fan and DVD collector. He enjoys playing golf, racquetball, and volleyball. An eclectic music fan of several genres such as blues, classic rock, traditional African and new age, Mr. Johnson also plays the piano and drums. His favorite reading subjects include mystery novels, history, politics, and current events. He loves to travel, visit museums and theme parks, and explore cultural and historical sites. In addition, Mr. Johnson likes to attend baseball games, football games, and stand-up comedy shows.
