Dr. Johnson received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Howard University, with a sub-specialty in IndustrialJOrganizational Psychology. She completed a dual doctoral internship as a researcher at The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Patterson Research Institute and the Educational Research Service (ERS). Dr. Johnson received an MBA from Strayer University and a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from Howard University. Her undergraduate degree was completed at Jackson State University in Modern Foreign Languages. Dr. Johnson has thirty years of experience in industry, having completed various assignments at illM Corporation, Loral Corporation, and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Her book on "Culture and Learning" which provides instructional techniques on the incorporation of cultural awareness was published early 2003. Dr. Johnson's dissertation was completed on "Learning Preferences of Elementary School Students in Mid-Atlantic Metropolitan Schools". Dr. Johnson began her teaching career as an adjunct professor at Howard University. Since Fall 2004, Dr. Johnson has been an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Hampton University, where she teaches Methods in Behavioral Research, Introductory Psychology for Majors, Black Psychology, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. In addition to teaching, Dr. Johnson is actively involved in research on learning preferences and the classroom climate, group dynamics, and sleep deprivation. Dr. Johnson also works as a research advisor with students who are serious about research. Her current research interests are varied and include: culture and learning, teaching and learning styles, issues which affect the black family, and group dynamics. Dr. Johnson enjoys reading, traveling, and music. |
