Congratulations to The Class of 2005!
Student Accomplishments
Bettina Applewhite will matriculate at Penn State in the fall to pursue doctoral studies in nutrition;
Kristin Finch is off to the University of Illinois Urbana/Champagne for a Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry;
Jessica Marshall will enter the dental program at UNC Chapel Hill;
Evora Newby will be in the medical program at MCV;
Crystal Woodard will matriculate in the Ph.D. program in biochemistry at Johns Hopkins.
Departmental Dinner
Another successful departmental dinner was held in November, 2004. Mr. Judson Haynes, now with Proctor and Gamble, returned as the guset speaker.

Khaleelah PoRome, president of the Chemistry Club, welcomed everyone and Eric Ruff performed a Billie Holiday song. Awards were presented to Ashley Harris, Kia Walcott, Tiffany Hailstorks, Jessica Marshall, and Kristen Finch.

Food and fellowship were enjoyed by all.
New Faculty
Dr. Shanthi Paranawithana and Dr. Kesete Ghebreyessus will join the Department of Chemistry Faculty for the new academic term.

Recent Grants Awarded: A new grant of $886,000 was recently received from NIH - MHIRT to support our International Research Training program.
