  Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science has a well-rounded, highly competitive program that will prepare you for both graduate school and positions in government or industry. We are currently starting new initiatives in the areas of Information Assurance and Artificial Intelligence. We have strong collegiate partnerships (such as Carnegie Mellon University, Idaho State University, James Madison University, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, North Carolina State University, Old Dominion University, and The National Defense University) as well as strong corporate partnerships (such as IBM, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Allstate, Vanguard, and Northrop-Grumman). Most of our majors take advantage of the many available summer internships and find employment positions before graduation.

The Department of Computer Science offers course work leading to Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems. The Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Hampton University is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET (111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012 - telephone: 410-347-7770). These two programs are designed for students who plan to pursue in-depth training in one or more application areas for employment or further education in computer and information sciences.

The Department also offers course work leading to the Masters of Science Degree and Masters of Teaching in Computer Science.
