Every student should feel compelled to give back to community or to volunteer for a better cause. Within this page students will find links to volunteer opportunities.

Virginia Marine Science Museum - www.vmsm.com

As the most frequently visited museum in the state, the Virginia Marine Science Museum hosts hundreds of thousands of people each year.  The warmth and knowledge given to the visitors by volunteers play a large part in the museum's tremendous success. Each month, more than 950 dedicated volunteers - ranging in age from 11 to 92 with varying backgrounds - offer their time and talents, unselfishly and unconditionally. In return, volunteers are given the opportunity to learn and have fun sharing with others.  Volunteers are required to attend basic classes, and specific continuing education classes.

It offered links to coastal volunteer opportunities, profiles of successful coastal volunteer programs, and information for volunteers and volunteer coordinators.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service - www.fws.gov

Volunteers are welcome in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service! With more than 36,000 volunteers contributing in excess of 1.4 million hours of their time, skills and talents, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (FWS) volunteer program is robust and continuing to grow. The tireless efforts of our volunteers complete more than 20 percent of the work conducted on national wildlife refuges alone. Volunteers play a vital role in helping the FWS fulfill its mission of conserving, protecting and enhancing America's fish, wildlife and plants and the habitats on which they depend. We hope you will consider spending time with us to help us help wildlife.
