The Department of Mathematics has several UNIX-based
computers (Silicon Graphics Origin 2000 Parallel Supercomputer, Silicon
Graphics Indy R5000 workstation, and Sun Sparc 10 workstation),
a large number of Macintosh and
IBM personal computers, digital scanners, laser printers, and color
laser printers. Current software tools accessible on these hardware
systems include FORTRAN and C/C++ compilers, technical plotting packages
(such as TECPLOT+3DV of Amtec Engineering, FAST and PLOT3D of NASA),
word processors, and Web browsers (such as Netscape Navigator and Mosiac).
Many of these computers have T1-connection to the Internet and are available
for faculty and student use.
The faculty and students have access to the HU Cray EL98
supercomputer. Several grants support access to off-site computer facilities
at NASA and National Energy Research Supercomputer Center as well as
aerodynamics and aeroacoustic facilities at NASA-Langley.
