HBC Scholarship
The HBC Scholarship is available to all students, regardless of race, who wish to attend Norfolk State University or Hampton University and who meet the requirements listed below. The primary objective of HBC Scholarship Program is to attract Black and Hispanic students with academic potential who have yet to demonstrate performance in a college environment or who have completed less than 30 credits at the college / university level with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 overall and a grade of “C” or better in all courses taken. Students with any past or present affiliation to any Navy commissioning program are not eligible for an HBC scholarship. This scholarship will pay for tuition, $375 per semester toward books, and a $250- $400 dollar per month stipend for up to four years of academic study. (Increases by $50 each year)
Eligibility Requirments for HBC Scholarship
- Have no past affiliation with the NROTC program
- Can apply as a senior in high school or freshman in college (with less than 30 credits)
- Minimum SAT scores of 520 Math and 530 Critical Reading or ACT scores of 21 Math and 22 Critical Reading
- Proven High School or College performance
- If any college credit - must have cumulative GPA of 2.75 and grades of "C" or better in all courses taken
Physical Requirements for HBC Scholarship
- Must be in good overall health. Applicants must be able to participate in strenuous physical activity and not have any contagious disease, illness or history of injury that will or is likely to require medical care or restriction of participation during training exercises or physical readiness testing.
- Selectees may not be placed on scholarship until determined to be physically qualified by Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB) or granted a physical qualification waiver by CNET

4-Year National Scholarship
- Full tuition at one of the listed college or universities
- All colleges/university educational fees
- Stipend for textbooks
- All uniforms provided
- Subsistence allowance each academic month
- The Marine Option Four-Year National Scholarship requires a minimum of 1000 on the SAT or 22 minimum composite on the ACT.

2 -Year National Navy Scholarship
- Open to
college students who have completed their sophomore year or third
year in a five-year curriculum
- Deadline
date: 15 March of the applicant's sophomore year
- Covers final
two years of college
- Provides
tuition, fees, textbooks, and uniforms for two academic years
- Subsistence
allowance for a maximum of 20 months
- Upon graduation
will be commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy or Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps

NROTC College Program
- Two to four-year programs
- Applicants
selected from students already attending or accepted by colleges with
NROTC programs
- Pays for
uniforms and instructional fees for Naval Science courses
- College
Program students selected for "advanced standing" receive
a stipend for maximum of 20 months. Advanced standing is
only available starting the junior year of college. Stipend
per academic month is $350 during Junior year and $400 during Senior year.
- Students
will complete Naval Science and other university courses, a few
specific university courses, and attend one summer training
session:
- Normally
at sea for Navy officers
- Normally
at Quantico, VA for Marine Corps-option midshipmen
- Four-year
applicants apply through Professors of Naval Science upon commencement
of Freshman year.
- Two-year
applicants apply before spring of Sophomore year.
- When accepted,
two-year applicants will attend a six-and-a-half week Naval Science Institute
program in Newport, RI during the summer between the student's Sophomore and Junior
years.
- Upon
graduation, Program midshipmen
will be commissioned as Ensigns in the Navy or as Second
Lieutenants in the Marine Corps
