Research Interests:

Optical nanoscience has brought great attention to investigating the nonlinear optical properties of nanoscale materials for photonic nanotechnology applications. Strong quantum confinement, large surface effect, and art-like morphology enormously modify the nonlinear optical physics of nanoscale materials.

The objectives of our research are to: (1) understand the nonlinear optical physics of nonlinear optical propagation, multi-order susceptibilities, and surface-enhanced Raman scattering of various optical materials, and (2) investigate optical properties of semiconductor nanocrystals, nanometals, nanoaerogels, supramolecular semiconductors, and biocompatible nanomaterials for optical power limiting, biochem photonic sensing, and tumor detection and ablation. The Applied Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to conduct nanoscale materials development, cw to ultrafast spectroscopy, and device testing.
