Research Interests:

I am an experimental nuclear physicist with a joint position both as faculty at HU and as staff scientist at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) - which is about 10 minutes from
campus. I also have an interest in medical applications of nuclear physics, and currently serve as Director of the HU Center for Advanced Medical Instrumentation, and the HU joint medical physics prog

Theory of strong interactions: my main interest is to make progress in understanding the non-perturbative side of QCD. The main focus is in the development and applications of effective theories: chiral perturbation theory, heavy quark effective theory, and 1/Nc expansion of QCD. Particular topics of current work:  i) analyses of excited baryons in the 1/Nc expansion: masses, strong and electromagnetic transitions; ii) meson sector chiral perturbation theory including resonances in the 1/Nc expansion; iii)  isospin breaking and precision tests: p0®gg, heavy mesons masses, etc.
