  Admission Requirements

Congratulations! Class of 2007 for securing 100% first attempt passing

in the Physical Therapy Board Examination.

The Department of Physical Therapy is accepting applications for admission starting January 2009. The deadline for application is October 15, 2008.

The Department of Physical Therapy Admissions Committee selects students for admission. The following criteria must be met to enter the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program:

  1. Bachelor's Degree;

  2. Completion, with a "C" or better, of the following courses or their equivalent:

    General Biology I w/lab 4 hrs
    General Biology II w/lab 4 hrs
    General Chemistry I w/lab 4 hrs
    General Chemistry II w/lab 4 hrs
    General Physics I w/lab 4-5 hrs
    General Physics II w/lab 4-5 hrs
    Human Anatomy w/lab 4 hrs
    Human Physiology w/lab 3 hrs
    Introduction to Statistics 3 hrs
  3. A minimum of 40 hours of volunteer or work experience in Physical Therapy (hospital, clinic etc.) with documentation signed by a licensed Physical Therapist. *Introduction to Physical Therapy Course substitutes for 40 hours of volunteer time;

  4. A 3.0 cumulative GPA of all coursework with a minimum GPA of 2.8 in the sciences pre-requisite courses;

  5. A knowledge of the profession as evidenced by a personal statement detailing the reasons for professional choice;

  6. Two letters of recommendation addressing the applicant's moral character and suitability for a Physical Therapy career;

  7. A personal interview with two members of the Department of Physical Therapy Admissions Committee;

  8. Results of the Graduate Record Examination;

  9. All science pre-requisites must have been completed within the last eight (8) years.

  10. Send all the documents including the Graduate Application, Transcripts, and  Recommendation letters to the Department of Physical Therapy.

Applications for admission are reviewed as they are received until October 15th for classes starting January 2009. Applications received after that date will be considered on a space available basis.
