Description: The A PLUS (A+) FOR PRE-COLLEGE
STUDENTS is a program designed for 12 - 16 year-old
students who want an exciting and different summer
experience. Through experiences and activities, the
participants will focus on....
Academics and Activities - with an emphasis on
culture.The participants will examine the culture and history of Jamestown Virginia in celebration of it's 400th anniversary. This historical experience will allow students to view life from the perspective of English Settlers, Virginia Indians and the Africans. The student will participate in activities such as aerobics, astronomy, beginning equestrian, bowling, croquet, golf, horseshoes, lawn badminton, quizbowl and water sports.
Preparation and Performance - for leadership
using images that increase the ability to see situations
from multiple perspectives.
Learning - about our world, not only about cultures
but also about opportunities and alternatives.
Understanding - some of the realities of our
world through carefully planned visits to institutions
such industries and agencies.
Service - with emphasis on learning how to serve
the community.
