Pre-College Program Eligibility

The Pre-College Summer Program is comprised of four different types of students who can attend. Students who are fully admitted to the University may attend, students provisionally accepted, juniors in high school who will be seniors in the upcoming fall school year, and students admitted to another university but would like to take introductory classes through the program. Please read the following to see which category you fall under. Once you determine your eligibility please continue to the Apply Now page to begin the enrollment process.

Pre-College

The Pre-College program is for students who are admitted and plan to enroll at Hampton University in the fall. In addition to English and math, Pre-College students are permitted to enroll in one of the courses below. Please indicate your first, second, and third choice. Please use numerals. Enrollment is based strictly upon availability.

Summer Bridge

This program is for students who are conditionally admitted to Hampton University pending successful completion of this program. These students are required to take two (2) courses, English and math, and earn a 2.5 GPA by the end of the program.

Summer Only

The Summer Only program is for students who have not applied to Hampton University and plan to attend another University in the fall. This student must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average to be considered for enrollment into the program. Those who wish to apply as a Summer Only student must submit an enrollment form, medical form, summer session application and application fee, official high school transcript, SAT or ACT scores, two letters of recommendation, and the acceptance letter received from the university he/she plans to attend. Once accepted the student may enroll in two courses: history, oral communications, or a social science only.

Rising Senior

The Rising Seniors Program is for students entering their senior year of high school in the fall. To be considered for enrollment into the program the student must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Those who wish to apply as a Rising Senior must submit an enrollment form, medical form, summer session application, official high school transcript, PSAT/SAT/ACT scores, and two letters of recommendation by April 1, 2017. Acceptance is on a rolling basis. Once accepted the student may enroll in a maximum of two (2) courses; history, oral communications, or a social science.
