NHAA - Montgomery County, MD Chapter
  Hello & Welcome, Hamptonians!

Toni Johnson-Conner
President

What an exciting year we’ve had! As a Chapter, we have demonstrated the true meaning of teamwork. The year started with two Chapter goals - to obtain 100 members and to award two $1,000.00 scholarships for the 2006-2007 academic year. The good news is we reached 87% of our membership goal AND we had sufficient funds available to award two $1,000.00 scholarships. The bad news is no continuing students from Montgomery County, MD applied. In any case, as a result of all of our hard work the Montgomery County, MD Chapter was awarded the 2007 NHAA President’s Award described as “the highest award granted to member Chapters and Regions in recognition of outstanding service to the Association at the local, regional and national levels, and to Hampton University.” I had the honor of accepting this award on behalf of the Chapter during the 91st Annual Alumni Awards and Recognition Banquet. No one person was responsible for these accomplishments. Kudos to all!

There are several ways you to can support these ongoing efforts:

  • Become a paid member - The principal way to support our Chapter so the Chapter can support Hampton University, current and future alumni.
  • Attend meetings - The majority of chapter business will be conducted at the meetings approximately 1 hour long. Come and express your interests and concerns so the leadership can plan accordingly. Refer to the Meeting Schedule for the dates and times.
  • Become an officer or serve on a committee -The Chapter needs your experience, enthusiasm and active involvement.
  • Support Chapter programs and activities - With your financial contributions and involvement, the Chapter is sure to provide activities you can support and enjoy.

There is much more that we can do! I look forward to greeting you at the next meeting! If you cannot attend, be sure to send in your membership form and fee today.  Make the commitment to keep this chapter growing!
