Two thousand and eight was an exciting year for our Chapter! In May we were awarded the 2008 NHAA President’s Award for the second consecutive year. This award is described as, “the highest award granted to member Chapters and Regions in recognition of outstanding service to the Association at the local, regional and national levels, and to Hampton University.” What an honor for our chapter, just re-established 6 years ago!
The Chapter goals also reached 90% of our membership goal and awarded two $1,500.00 scholarships to continuing students Adrienne J. Jordan and Jamal C. Norwood at Hampton University.
I wish to thank the many Hampton alumni and friends for your support of our inaugural “Pirates of Hampton Roads Calendar” that debuted at the 2008 NHAA Biennial Convention in Las Vegas, NV (find sample pages and an order form on our Documents page). The initial response to this fund raising project has been very gratifying. There are several ways you to can contribute to these and other ongoing efforts in support our Alma Mater:

President's Award
- Become and remain paid members – This is the principal way to support our Chapter so the Chapter can support Hampton University, current and future alumni.
- Attend meetings - The majority of chapter business will be conducted during meetings approximately 1 hour long. Come and express your interests and concerns so the leadership can plan accordingly. Refer to the Meeting Schedule for the dates and times.
- Become an officer or serve on a committee - The Chapter needs your experience, enthusiasm and active involvement.
- Support Chapter programs and activities - With your financial contributions and involvement, the Chapter is sure to provide activities you enjoy and can support.
There is much more that we can do! Join us at the next meeting or, if you are unable to attend, mail in your membership form and fee today. With your commitment, the potential of our chapter to serve is unlimited!
