Department of Modern Foreign Languages |
Curricular Offerings in Modern Foreign LanguagesModern Foreign Languages offers courses in Spanish, French, German, Japanese.
Spanish, French, German, and Japanese may be taken currently for 4
semesters, that is, through the intermediate level. The emphasis in all our courses is on oral proficiency, though students develop all language skills: speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing, and cultural proficiency. We teach learners through a broad range of interactive tasks in which the student is the center of class. The department offers a major and a minor in Spanish. A student majoring in Spanish chooses one of 4 tracks: Literature, Language, Culture, and Language for Special Purposes. To learn more about the program requirements for a major, click on the link above. We soon hope to offer a major and minor in French. |
