MME 318 Visual Communication Lab 3 Credit Hours
This course introduces students to basic theories and skills in
visual communication. It includes the selection and editing of photographs;
the use of maps, charts, graphs, artwork and other graphic-design elements
in traditional print and online media, as well as other publications.
It introduces students to common graphic programs such as Quark and Adobe
Photoshop.
Required of all print, public relations and advertising majors.
Prerequisites:
MME 201 and 202.
MME 319 TV Newscast 2 Lab 3 Credit Hours
This course teaches advanced television production and anchoring
of a television newscast. Students will assume the responsibilities of
assignment editor, producer, video producer, director, and on-air anchors
(news, sports, weather) for a newscast.
Required of all broadcast journalism majors.

MME 320 Multicultural Reporting Lab 3 Credit Hours
This course builds on and strengthens students’ concepts and skills
in reporting on a diverse society. It includes case studies of press coverage,
its perceptions among diverse communities and its effects on those communities.
It teaches reporting, writing and editing techniques for fairly and thoroughly
covering diverse communities.
Required
of all print and broadcast journalism majors.
Prerequisites: MME 201 and 202.
MME 321 Writing for Public Relations Lab 3 Credit Hours
This is the introductory writing course in public relations and
corporate communications. It includes
producing program materials and activities such as news releases, brochures,
flyers, pamphlet development, copy writing and general business communication.
Required of all public relations majors.
Prerequisites: MME 201, 202 and 209.
MME 324 Writing & Creative Strategies in Advertising Lab 3 Credit Hours
This course teaches the formulation of creative ideas and viable
strategies. It includes copy writing for print, broadcast and online media.
Required of all advertising majors.
Prerequisites: MME 201, 202 and 204.
MME 323 Digital Photography Lab 1 Credit Hour
This course introduces students to the basic technology of digital photography and the theories and skills of photojournalism. It will include photo selection, editing and layout on computers. It will include photography for online, broadcast and print journalism, and other publications.
Prerequisite:
MME 201 or permission of the instructor.
