Dixon
became the station manager of WHOV-FM, the student-run campus radio station,
in November of 2001. Dixon, a Hampton graduate (Class of '95) in print journalism,
had worked at the station both as a student and as a volunteer.
As a student, he wrote for the Hampton Script, the student newspaper; was a
sportscaster and newscaster for WHOV (88.1 FM) sang with the University Choir
and the Hampton University Gospel Choir; and was student assistant residence
hall director. After graduation, he worked at the university as a graduate assistant
in the Office of the Dean of Men and became a volunteer on-air announcer for
university sports and host - known as "The Conductor" -- of the station's
"Gospel Express" show. As station manager, he also continues to host
"Gospel Express."
