Rosalynne Whitaker-Heck

Rosalynne Whitaker-Heck is a 20-year veteran of mass media arts that have included broadcast production, telecommunications education, media relations and communityrelations.

She received a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast production with a minor in media management from Howard University and received a master of science degree in media management from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her broadcast career included positions as a PBS producer/director at WPSX-TV in State College, Pa.; a weekend news editor at WTKR-TV 3 in Norfolk, Va.; and an assistant supervisor of telecommunications education with Newport News Public Schools' cable television station.

From 1992 until 1998, she held the media and community relations position with the school division. In August of 1998, she joined the faculty in the Department of Mass Media Arts to teach public relations and other communications courses.

She also serves as the faculty advisor for the newly established PRSSA chapter at Hampton University.

In addition to teaching, she stays active in her profession by serving as a community relations consultant for racially and culturally diverse groups and organizations. She also co-owns HECK Productions, a video production business started by her husband. She serves as the company's writer for local and national organizations.
