Professor Wood joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 2002 after working in newspapers and pursuing graduate studies in journalism. She teaches a variety of editing and visual communication classes. She also coordinates the internship program.

She graduated from Ball State University in 1995 with a degree in print journalism and political science. She was the recipient of a four-year Presidential Scholarship for academic achievement.

There she also received the Freshmen Achievement Journalism Scholarship. Professor Wood received her master's degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of South Carolina in 1999. She is working toward her Ph.D. in journalism and mass communications from the University of South Carolina.

Her research interests include print journalism and newspaper management.
