Graduation
We want our students to be well prepared for their careers or for advanced study. To enhance their education and success, we have these graduation requirements:
  • A minimum grade of "C" in all courses in the student's major.
Students must repeat any course in the department in which they make a "C-" or lower.
  • Internship
Internships give students valuable experience, insights and connections for their careers. So every student must complete at least one approved internship in his or her major.
  • Portfolio
A portfolio of work shows that students have mastered the basic skills and concepts of their professions. A portfolio would include material suitable to the student's concentration: published news stories for print journalism students; a tape of news stories for broadcast journalism students; a client campaign for public relations and advertising students; management and business materials for media management students.
And the portfolio comes in handy for students after graduation - it's often part of a graduate's job application.
