As part of a special program for our students, several became reporters for the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire in Washington, D.C., in the summer of 2001. The SHFWire brings college journalists to Washington to write for their own wire service. Many of their stories are distributed nationally by Scripps Howard News Service. Pictured here in the SHFWire newsroom are Kendra Cooley, a 2001 graduate in broadcast journalism from Silver Spring, Md.; Martha Wilson, director of the Semester in Washington Program and SHFWire; Kimi Olisemeka, a broadcast journalism major from Hampton, Va.; and Lydia McCoy, a print major from Little Rock, Ark.Getting Experience
