
Lorraine Bell, M.M.
Lorraine McFadden Bell,
soprano, performs extensively as a recital artist, and is frequently
heard as guest soloist in oratorio concerts. Her diverse repertoire
includes opera, classical and contemporary works. She has premiered
vocal works, which were written specifically for her "lovely
lyric" voice by the noted American composer, Adolphus Hailstork.
Ms. Bell maintains an active performance schedule, and is frequently
engaged for opera and music education programs. She has facilitated
workshops for students and teachers throughout the southeastern
region and has served as Artist-in-Residence at several middle
and high schools. Ms. Bell has been invited to lecture and perform
on the topic of African-American Art Songs at several colleges,
universities, conferences and communities. She is presently
on the Board of Directors of the Norfolk Art Songs Society in
Norfolk, Virginia.
Ms. Bell began her undergraduate
studies at Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland.
She completed her Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Vocal
Performance at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia and
received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Norfolk
State University, Norfolk, Virginia. Ms. Bell is Assistant Professor
of Music at Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia.
