A wide variety of choral experiences are open to all university students.

(1) THE UNIVERSITY CHOIR is the major choral unit for the University. All other choral ensembles fall under the umbrella of the University Choir. The University Choir provides service to the campus community by providing music for events such as Convocation, Commencement, Founder's Day and other campus events. The choir serves Memorial Church at least one Sunday per month, and produces at least two major concerts per year. This ensemble also serves as the major ensemble for all music majors in voice and keyboard.

(2) The University Gospel Choir: HIS CHOSEN SOUNDS is a growing entity on the campus. The Choir performs both on and off campus, provides music for the Memorial Church, produces at least three major campus concerts per year, and tours on weekends throughout the academic year. Membership in the Gospel Choir is limited. Weekend travel is expected from all members. B.A. and B.A.M.T. music majors may not use this ensemble for their major ensemble requirement.

(3) THE UNIVERSITY CONCERT CHOIR is the primary touring ensemble for the University. Established in 1870, this group is distinguished by performing in some of the most honorable concert hall and churches in the country and abroad. The choir has toured parts of Europe and Canada, performed in Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and was featured at the Inauguration of President William Jefferson Clinton in 1997. The choir tours annually during the Spring Break, Thanksgiving Break, and prior to Commencement. Membership in the Concert choir is limited and is based upon membership in one of the other choirs and a second audition. This ensemble also serves as a major ensemble for all music majors in voice and keyboard.

(4) THE VOCAL JAZZ ENSEMBLE: JZAZZ is considered as a small ensemble under the aegis of the University Choirs. The group performs in venues on and off of the campus and has been featured at the Music Educators National Conference, as featured artists during the Annual Week of Jazz, and has performed for the President's Campaign for the United Way. Membership in this ensemble is limited and available through audition.

One hour of credit per semester may be obtained for participating in any choir.
