  Presenter: Thomas Longstaff

Dr. Tom Longstaff is a senior member of the technical staff in theNetworked Systems Survivability (NSS) Program at the SoftwareEngineering Institute (SEI).

He is currently managing research and development in networksecurity for the NSS Program. Publication areas include informationsurvivability, insider threat, intruder modeling, and intrusiondetection. As a member of the CERT® Research and AnalysisCenters, Tom has daily access to the most up-to-date information onInternet security, product vulnerabilities, and intruder profiles inexistence. Since 1997, Tom has been investigating topics related toinformation survivability and critical national infrastructure protectionas well as beginning to work on security for SCADA and feedbackcontrol systems for critical national infrastructures.

Prior to coming to the Software Engineering Institute, Longstaff wasthe technical director at the Computer Incident Advisory Capability(CIAC) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore,California. He completed a PhD in 1991 at the University ofCalifornia, Davis in software environments.
