Rodney Petersen is a Policy Analyst with EDUCAUSE and theProject Director for the EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer andNetwork Security Task Force.  He is the co-editor of a recent bookon "Computer and Network Security in Higher Education."

He was formerly the Director of IT Policy and Planning in the Officeof the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at the Universityof Maryland.

He was the founder of Project NET’hics at the University ofMaryland - a group whose mission is to ensure responsible use ofinformation technology through user education and enforcement ofacceptable use guidelines.

He received his law degree from Wake Forest University. Hisresearch and writing interests include information security, copyrightownership and use of copyrighted materials, privacy and fair useinformation practices, censorship and freedom of speech, andinstitutional policy development for the ethical and appropriate useof information technology in higher education.
