This position involves various vital duties that enhance the performance of the Office of Governmental Relations.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will

  • Perform research as required for proposals to be prepared by the Office of Governmental Relations;
  • Assist the Office of Sponsored Programs in verifying the accuracy of proposal budgets to meet government guidelines;
  • Work with PI's to ensure that their budgets are consistent with University Policy;
  • Search electronic databases for upcoming funding opportunities and identify grant opportunities for our institution:
  • Coordinate work flow of grants processed through the Office of Governmental Relations, keep grants and projects on schedule;
  • Communicate with all faculty and Principal Investigators, with regard to new grant and contract opportunities.
  • Follow up on grants received and due for reports;
  • Maintain procedures manual to ensure consistent performance of routines and budgets;
  • Take initiative in manager's absence;
  • Reply to general information request with the accurate information;
  • Research, edit and circulate OGR's (Office of Governmental Relations) weekly e-bulletin with regard to grant opportunities;
  • Enter data and upkeep of the organization's databases, improve/tighten storage/retrieval systems of grant records, update and manage index;
  • Compose correspondence/reports for own or managers signature;
  • Process replies on own initiative or from bosses, Research draft or abstract reports;
  • Check deadlines on incoming requests and put preliminary work in play, track update and chase delegated tasks to ensure progress to deadlines.

Requirements
A undergraduate degree preferably in business management or accounting.

Qualifications
Must have some experience with bookkeeping or accounting.  Excellent oral and written communications skills. Proficiency in: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, Access), Database Management.
