The Hampton University Department of Sociology invites nominations and applications for adjuncts to teach Introduction to Sociology for the summer session, June 10 – July 19, 2019. The successful candidate reports to the Department Chair and the Director of Summer Session.  We are looking for candidates who demonstrate dedication to student learning and achievement.

Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located on the Virginia Peninsula in the City of Hampton.  It is a privately endowed, co-educational, nonsectarian institution.  The Department of Sociology prepares students for careers in a global market and for graduate study. Duties and Responsibilities

The faculty member will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Teaching undergraduate Sociology (Introduction to Sociology). 

  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Chairperson, Assistant Dean, or Dean.

Qualifications

All candidates should have an earned Master’s Degree or higher in Sociology from an accredited university with a minimum of two years of college-level teaching.
