Description

This position assists in the collection, management and access of government documents for the University Library.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Plan and manage collection development activities for selective government documents including the selection of titles to receive in print and electronic format and weeding of the collection.

  2. Organize and process government documents in accordance with Federal Depository Library program guidelines.

  3. Assist in the coordination of activities relative to government depository items.

  4. Provide instruction and assistance in the use of the collection.

  5. Conduct evaluation and assessment activities relative to government documents.

  6. Maintain statistical data and prepare reports relative to government documents.

  7. Provide reference and instruction services to the user community as scheduled including some evenings and weekends.

  8. Serve as an advocate for the library by serving on library, university, and regional committees and by participating in professional development activities.

  9. Perform other duties as assigned in order to advance the strategic goals of the library in connection with the strategic goals of the university.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year previous experience working in a library environment.

  • Knowledge of specialized library software, including OCLC and library database management systems.

  • Knowledge of computer applications.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree strongly preferred.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Customer service experience.

  • Ability to pay attention to details.

  • High level of data input accuracy.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
