The Office of the Vice President for Administrative Services views this Wellness Care Coordinator as an integral position on the staff, providing meaningful professional service to and for students at Hampton University. The Coordinator will provide individualized services to address the needs of students experiencing interpersonal, academic, and wellness concerns. They will provide direct case management services and manage a comprehensive case management database for students receiving Care Support Services. The Wellness Care Coordinator will collaborate with both on and off-campus partners and health care providers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Advise individual students receiving Care Support services under the supervision of the Director of the Student Counseling Center and Director of the Student Health Center.

  2. Effectively respond to high level care management needs, make student case notes and assist in monitoring and supporting students receiving care management services.

  3. Provide non-clinical Case Management services to at-risk undergraduate and graduate students

  4. Serve as a liaison to the Student Development Leadership Team (SDLT)

  5. Manage database of students who are on medical leave of absence, to ensure coordination of care and completion of documents for continuation of matriculation

  6. Serve as a university liaison for students who are psychiatrically and/or medically hospitalized

  7. Assist with coordination and continuity of communication and care for students who receive medical and/or mental health services outside of Hampton University

  8. Serve as a member of the Behavioral Assessment Team (BAT)

  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Student Counseling Center and/or Director of the Health Center


  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, nursing, counseling, social work, higher education, special education, or related fields. Master's Degree preferred.

  • Experience in outpatient mental health, medical settings, University Counseling/Health Centers, working in higher education and/or with case management.

  • Experience with crisis intervention and/or conflict resolution practices.

  • The capacity to assimilate into the culture of a fast-paced, demanding office.

•Ability to handle conflict on a regular basis
•Strong interest in working with students who are experiencing crisis (medical, mental health, personal)
•Demonstrated experience in advocating for college students, including underrepresented populations
