The Office of the Vice President for Administrative Services views this Wellness Care Coordinator (WCC) as an integral position on the staff, providing meaningful professional service for Hampton University. The WCC supports initiatives targeting the overall health and safety of the Hampton University community. Primary responsibilities will include supporting University initiatives surrounding maintaining health and safety amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the WCC will support the contact tracing process and will assist with Student Health Center contact tracing efforts. The Coordinator will also provide individualized services to address the needs of students experiencing interpersonal, academic, and wellness concerns. They will provide direct case management services and manage a comprehensive case management database for students receiving Care Support Services. The Wellness Care Coordinator will collaborate with both on and off-campus partners and health care providers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary job responsibilities at this time will be related to supporting the health and safety initiatives of the University, as related to COVID-19

  • Develop and manage a database to monitor faculty, staff, and students who are exposed or diagnosed with COVID-19

  • Provide daily update to Vice President of Administrative services, Student Health Center Director(s) and/or his/her designee regarding COVID-19 University contact tracing information

  • Coordinate meetings with Health Center staff to update and input contact tracing data

  • Attend meetings with Student Counseling Center and Student Health Center staff to review Medical Leave of Absence data

  • Work with the Health Center staff to provide contact tracing assistance

  • Develop and manage a centralized tracking system and database to monitor students who are exposed or test positive for COVID-19 and/or on Medical Leave of Absence

  • Manage database of students who are on medical leave of absence, to ensure coordination of care and completion of documents for continuation of matriculation

  • Coordinate academic and medical support for students following extended illness or hospitalization

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Administrative Services, Director of the Student Counseling Center and/or Director(s) of the Health Center. The incumbent will primarily be located in the Student Health Center.


• Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, nursing, counseling, social work, higher education, special education, or related fields.

• Desire to assist with Hampton University contact tracing data management efforts and monitoring of students who are on medical leave

• High organizational skill level; detail oriented

• The capacity to assimilate into the culture of a fast-paced, demanding office.


  • Master’s Degree in nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, higher education, special education, or related fields.

  • Experience with data management

  • Experience working in higher education and/or with case management.

  • Experience with crisis intervention and/or conflict resolution practices.

  • The capacity to assimilate into the culture of a fast-paced, demanding office.

  • Strong communication and collaborative skills

  • Ability to handle conflict on a regular basis

  • Strong interest working with students who are experiencing crisis (medical, mental health, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience in advocating for college students, including underrepresented population

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint), spreadsheets, and other data management tools
