Description
The Junior Programmer position supports the securing, implementation, maintenance, and upgrade of Hampton University’s Student Information System (SIS)/Enterprise Resource Program (ERP), Banner. The successful candidate will provide initial Tier I/II technical support and functional assistance to campus faculty and staff. The Junior Programmer is required to assist in writing, testing, maintaining, and supporting PL/SQL scripts in a heterogeneous Windows, Linux, and macOS environment. As a member of a technical team, the successful candidate will provide backup support for other Programmer team members as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as a junior technical member providing technical assistance

Maintain technical documentation

Provide and support ad-hoc and audit reports
-
Assist with performing SIS/ERP system backup and disaster recovery

Assist with applying SIS/ERP security updates, patches, and upgrades
-
Support and troubleshoot Procedural Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) scripts
-
Automate data extraction, insertion, and integration with the SIS/ERP environment

Provide functional support to various Banner ERP modules

Analyze daily and real-time reports for several Banner ERP modules

Assist campus faculty and staff on various Banner ERP modules
-
Providing Tier I/II support for Windows, macOS, and Linux clients

Perform other technical duties as directed
Requirements
- Associates’ degree in related field and/or equivalent training or relevant experience
- Equivalent technical training and/or work experience may suffice in lieu of academic requirements
- Current CompTIA, Microsoft, or other industry related certification desired
- Must be able to pass background and drug screening tests
Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Able to demonstrate strong critical thinking and analytical skills

Some familiarity with computer programming fundamentals

Understanding of Oracle Procedural Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) scripts

Experience using and querying Oracle 11g and 12c databases

Ability to plan, document, and communicate

Preferred experience working in a Linux/UNIX environment

Preferred working knowledge of enterprise relational databases (MSSQL, Oracle, etc.)

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2013/2016/2019 Products
