Description

The Coordinator of Student Conduct is responsible for the administration of the University’s student conduct program under the supervision of the Dean of Students and serves as a liaison between faculty, staff, and university members in response to conduct matters. The Coordinator of Student Conduct is responsible for the administration of the adjudication of potential violations of University policy and/or the Student Code of Conduct, maintaining statistical and confidential records and assisting students in understanding their rights and responsibilities as members of the University community. The Coordinator reports directly to the Dean of Students.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interacts in a positive, supportive manner with all constituencies at the University, including parents, students, prospective families, administration, faculty, staff and alumni

  • Reviews incident reports, meets with involved parties, investigates incidents, and adjudicates cases according to established codes of conduct and policies

  • Provides proactive education, training, and outreach for faculty, staff, and students on behavior expectations and guidelines, student code of conduct, and all related topics including drug and alcohol training, civility, community living, etc.

  • Assess the needs of students as related to student conduct and respond in a timely and effective manner

  • Through on-going case management, meets regularly with referred students to update records, provide on-going support and feedback, and assess progress. Insures student compliance and follow-through with discussed plans

  • Maintains all student conduct records, including management of related software and its use campus-wide and other tools utilized to report and record issues related to student conduct and judicial affairs and assures compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

  • Organize the Code of Conduct review process; stay current on best practices, compliance, and legal precedents at all regulatory levels; develop and assess education programs for students related to conduct

  • Maintains communication and professional collaborations with area college/university student conduct offices

  • Supervises the publishing and communication to the campus of all related student conduct publications, forms, and documents

  • Works with campus security and local law enforcement on incidents of on and off campus misconduct

  • Designs, implements, and assesses effectiveness of sanctions used in the student conduct process

  • Communicates progress with other campus staff and faculty members as appropriate

  • Remains up-to-date with all campus procedures and policies impacting students throughout their entire enrollment

  • Researches and completes required reports and documents, including those requiring coordination with other campus departments

  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in student personnel administration, higher education administration, or a related field is preferred

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a college/university student affairs environment is highly desired

  • Knowledge of current trends and issues facing the student conduct field and higher education

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to student conduct

  • Excellent organizational, management, and leadership skills

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • The ability to work collaboratively with others

  • A proven ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail

  • Computer literacy and database experience
