Description

Reporting to the Vice President for Development, the Gift Records Researcher assists in the collection, maintenance, and distribution of gift information; reviews and processes gifts including individual, matching, recurring gifts, and pledges as well as completes gift batches and assigns soft credits; responds to request for information regarding gifts and generates queries from the Banner system on individuals, funds, solicitors and events; prepares gift reports as required; complies and enters into the data base complete donor and gift records; assists other members of the Development staff in the processing and generation of gift reports and financial information from the data base; and ensures accurate and timely entry of all donor data, correspondence, contacts, address corrections, etc. into the SCT Banner system.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides general administrative support to the development team.

  • Processes accurately and timely all gifts and donor data, correspondence, contacts, address corrections, etc. in the SCT Banner system.

  • Creates new account numbers for gifts in collaboration with the Business Office.

  • Processes ACH-Debit gifts as provided by the Business Office.

  • Compiles and enters complete donor and gift records into the constituency data base.

  • Ensures required research and documentation of each donor is accurate and complete.

  • Assists in the collection, maintenance and distribution of gift information.

  • Produces gift receipts and mailing lists through Banner.

  • Maintains organized, up-to-date donor and gift record and correspondence files.

  • Responds to inquiries and request for information regarding gifts, including generating queries of the Banner system.

  • Acknowledges and submit matching gift request and retrieving matching gifts information online, including correspondence as needed.

  • Assists other members of the Development staff in processing and generating gift reports.

  • Prepares succinct donor profile summaries that provide insight for gift officers in their work with donors.

  • Exhibits innovative and proactive methods in identifying, qualifying and rating current and prospective donors.

  • Researches prospect donors by providing information to the Development staff in making contacts and securing gifts.

  • Assists in expanding the pool of potential prospects through prospect research.

  • Generates background research on potential individual and institutional (corporate and foundation) donors as identified by development staff.

  • Maintains prospective donor base to provide statistical reports of donor activity.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Position requires 1-3 years of experience in gift processing, preferably.   
  • A high level of computer and Internet literacy.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

  • The candidate must have the ability to work well with both internal team and external stakeholders.

  • Must have the ability to work independently and handle all aspects of gift processing and prospect research in the Office of Development.

  • Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Must possess good organizational skills with a strong customer service background.

  • Must be proficient in the use of SCT Banner, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Access.

  • Must be detailed oriented.
