Description
Reporting to the Director of the Career Center, the Job Developer identifies full-time and part-time employment opportunities for Hampton University students and alumni; provides career counseling for students and alumni and plans and researches topics for the Career Center News Radio show on the WHOV 88.1 Hampton University Radio Station.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops relationships with employers, counsels students and alumni on resume writing, job search
and cover letters
- Presents workshops, and seminars on assigned topics
- Post jobs using various social media websites
- Counsels students and alumni on the Interest Inventory system
- Receives all jobs emailed or mailed to the Career Center; verify that the company is legal and can do
business, through the Better Business Bureau
- Serves as a host for the Career Center News segment on WHOV 88.1 Hampton University Radio Station
- Manages clerical functions in the absence of the Recruiter and Secretary
- Represents the Director at meetings in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director
- Assists students and alumni with career counseling and planning
- Occasionally represents the Career Center at campus and community functions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Successful candidate will possess:
Associate's degree in Business Administration, Education, Marketing or related area
Excellent communication skills
Excellent computer skills
2-3 years of effective career services experience is preferred, although not required
Candidate must demonstrate maturity, have outstanding work ethics, and possess the ability to communicate with students, faculty, business, and industry representatives
