The position of the Director of Physical Plant is to provide general management, supervision, and professional direction to the comprehensive facilities management of the Physical Plant at Hampton University.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership and guidance regarding all aspects of facilities planning, space administration, architectural, and engineering for all University buildings on and off-campus.
Develop and recommend planning guidelines for the University’s Capital Improvement Program.
Coordinate and maintain business relationships with various vendors.
Consult with major campus academic and administrative officers to assure that physical facilities and deployment of Physical Plant employees are supportive of the educational and other campus programs.
Establish organizational goals, objective, priorities, and schedules for construction projects.
Maintain flexible hours and be available for 24-hour on-call rotation.
Prepare reports on various constructions projects being completed for the University.
Provide consistent and thorough leadership by ensuring that Safety and OSHA regulations are being adhered to at all times.
Develop, implement, and operate a budget for each fiscal year.
Provide general administrative supervision over a large Physical Plant staff and direct supervisory responsibility over the heads of various sub-units within the Physical Plant organization.
Comply with all rules of confidentiality and code of conduct.
Perform other duties as directed.
Bachelors Degree preferred.
Five years Physical Plant/Facilities Management in a higher education setting preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Competence with Microsoft Office software.
