This position will generally apply accepted accounting principles necessary to properly implement and maintain operation of financial management and accounting systems for Hampton University/Collection Office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure proper and timely posting to both student borrower’s accounts and Hampton University fund accounts.
Originate and process short-term loans as is necessary and follow through to ensure unpaid balances are transferred to student accounts quarterly.
Post loan payments to appropriate account daily or forward to servicing agency for proper posting and submit monthly invoices to accounts payable for deposit to appropriate fund.
Prepare journal entries, monthly collectible totals, cancellations, and write-offs for monthly accounting reports.
Comply with all local, state and federal regulations in maintaining accounting records and preparing financial reports.
Prepare monthly reports on selected fund accounts.
Assist in the preparation of the Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP) Report and related schedules.
Participate in the posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger regarding the Federal Perkins Loan, Nursing Loan and subsidiary accounts.
Assume other special activities and responsibilities as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with equivalent work experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Ability to maintain sustained attention to detail and work under pressure of strict timelines.
