Description

Supports the implementation, maintenance, and upgrades of university relational database management systems (RDBMS) that underpin university-wide administrative systems in collaboration with university personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, and production usage.
  • Develops, writes, tests, implements and maintains moderate to complex application programs and scripts using TOAD for Oracle.

  • Acts as a technical member or lead of teams by providing technical assistance, expertise, leadership, and performing assigned tasks.

  • Plans, implements, and tests backup and recovery of databases.

  • Performs ongoing tuning of the database instances.

  • Install new versions of Oracle Database and its related tools.

  • Implements and enforces security for all RDBMS Databases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, related engineering field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently on important projects.

  • PREFERRED: Oracle DBA Certification.

  • PREFERRED: Windows, Solaris, or Linux Certification.

Qualifications

  • Proficient, working knowledge of Oracle Database 11g or 12c.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner or other ERP applications.
  • Experience and familiarity with other RDBMS such as MSSQL and MySQL.

  • Experience writing and interpreting Oracle PL/SQL scripts using TOAD.

  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and other web-based technologies.

  • An understanding of using JAVA and programming language principles.

  • Working knowledge of J2EE technologies such as JSPs and Servlets.

  • Experience working with various reporting tools such as Oracle Reports or Crystal Reports.

  • Systems experience working within and interoperating Windows, Oracle (SUN) Solaris, and RHEL Linux operating systems.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2016 Office suite to include Project 2016 and Visio 2016.
