Description

Facilitate the mission of the Hampton University Archives by providing excellent customer service to the Archives constituents.  Primary: The Clerk Typist is to aid in the efficient performance of the Archives as a research facility, especially in the area of fulfilling clerical duties.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors.
  • Communicate with Archives visitors, volunteers, students, vendors, consultants and contractors. 
  • Type letters, process checks, index, label, file, mail packages, assist researchers, maintain the budget, order supplies and materials for the office
  • Record and finalize daily activities for the monthly report given by Archives Manager
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma required  (Associate/Undergraduate degree preferred)

Qualifications

  • Ability to quickly learn and perform all duties with accuracy and efficiency

  • Experience in customer service and prioritizing multiple tasks to meet deadlines

  • Familiarity with the Archives field a plus

  • Able to operate a variety of automated office machines Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing

  • Proficiency in operating Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn new programs

  • Willingness to work independently and as a team

  • Maintain a clean and orderly appearance in your work area

  • Flexibility
