Description

The Mathematics Department of Hampton University invites applications for two Assistant Professor Positions in Mathematics/Statistics (preference will be given to candidates with strong background in statistics and/or biostatistics). The persons will be expected to commence work at the beginning of the fall 2017 semester. 

Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located on the Virginia Peninsula, in the City of Hampton.  It is a privately endowed, co-educational, non-sectarian institution of higher learning with accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.

The Department of Mathematics offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Master of Science in Applied Mathematics with tracks in Statistics & Probabilty, Computational Mathematics, and Nonlinear Science. 


Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching, research, grants procurement, student mentoring and advising, and departmental and university service. Strong candidates are expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, to procure research grants, and to publish in professional journals. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be an experienced PhD in statistics/biostatistics or mathematics. Preference will be given to candidates with strong background in statistics and/or biostatistics.
