Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located in the City of Hampton--a historical city in the Hampton Roads region which offers an environment for living and learning that is peaceful, yet mentally stimulating.  The Hampton University main campus is centrally located between Virginia Beach and historic Williamsburg, along a beautiful waterfront.  The University is a nationally renowned institution that is privately endowed, co-educational, and nonsectarian.  The University is “dedicated to the promotion of learning, building of character and preparation of promising students for positions of leadership and service.”

The Department of Psychology is a vibrant department with active and dedicated faculty offering a rigorous and rewarding curriculum.  Faculty members are active teachers, engage in scholarly research, and provide service to the University and the greater Hampton Roads community.
