The Department of Sociology at Hampton University, which houses the BA in Sociology, the BS in Criminal Justice, and the BS in Cyber Security degrees, seeks to identify exceptional individuals with a research background and distinguished teaching to fill two nine-month, full-time, tenure-track positions at the Associate or Assistant professor level beginning Fall 2017.
Through scholarship, research experiences, and teaching expertise, these individuals will be expected to bring new viewpoints to the fusion of sociology and criminology, social policy, theory and research to our school and University.
Duties and Responsibilities
Area(s) of specialization are open. The successful candidate must be committed to teaching, the advisement of students, and must demonstrate evidence of research and grantsmanship.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate an active research agenda, potential for, or record of, externally funded research activity, and commitment to quality teaching and mentoring of students.
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology, or sociology from an accredited university, potential to teach effectively (in both online and traditional settings) at the university level in undergraduate settings, ability to conduct scholarly/funded research and publish in peer-reviewed outlets, and the ability to advise students.
