The Department of Pharmacy Practice at Hampton University School of Pharmacy invites nominations and applications for highly motivated individuals in the areas of Internal Medicine or Ambulatory Care for FOUR twelve-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2017.

Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located on the Virginia Peninsula in the City of Hampton. It is a privately endowed, co-educational, nonsectarian institution. The School of Pharmacy is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education through 2023, and awards the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. It is located on the east coast of Virginia in the picturesque Hampton Roads area that includes the cities of Hampton, Norfolk, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Newport News. The University seeks to motivate and prepare students to achieve at the highest academic level. Students develop and demonstrate a sense of character within themselves and in their relationship with others.  Students are taught to embrace those personal values, which make them responsive to the social, economic and more problems affecting our society.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include developing, coordinating and delivering didactic education that aligns with current ACPE standards; developing and maintaining innovative clinical practice sites; conducting scholarly activities such as patient-centered outcomes research, grantsmanship and publications; engaging in service to the School of Pharmacy, University and the community.


Successful candidates must possess a Pharm.D. degree, have completed one or two years of additional professional training (residency, fellowship, or equivalent experience), either have or be working towards credentials (e.g. specialty certification), and be eligible for licensure in the state of Virginia. Preferred candidates will have experience in at least one the following areas:  Pharmacokinetics, Infectious Disease, or Pediatrics. Candidates within other specialty areas will also be considered.
