Description

The Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions is responsible for assisting the Director of Marketing and Promotions with game day operations for all Athletic events; assisting with developing promotional materials including season ticket literature for football and Men’s and Women’s basketball program.  This position also manages a variety of public relations activities of the department’s local advertising.  The Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions is also responsible for the oversight of the student workers, including the recruitment and hiring of the student workers for the Marketing department.  This position is a full-time, twelve month position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building and implementing marketing plans for assigned sports

  • Assistance with the execution of game day marketing plans for football, and men’s and women’s basketball

  • Management of in-game entertainment for assigned sports including music

  • Script writing and on-field  and on-court promotions

  • Coordinate student workers and other game day employees

  • Assist with on and off-campus marketing efforts including the creation and dissemination of flyers and other electronic and social media efforts

  • Assist with budget management with the Director of Marketing and Promotions

  • Prepare and track requisitions for marketing department

  • Assist with sponsorships

  • Other duties assigned

Requirements

Working conditions is an office setting, outdoors, indoors, and occasionally noisy areas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to walk, stand long periods of time, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field and three years of experience in Marketing, promotional or related work.  Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-to-year basis.  Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekend on a regular basis.  Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficiency in computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, a design program and other related software.  Proficiency with social media including but not limited to Facebook and Twitter among others.  Ability to work with students, coaches, and administration in a broad range of situations.  Must have a valid driver’s license.
