Description

The primary responsibility of the Jr. Web Designer is to provide support for front-end web design for Hampton University and its various schools and departments.  In addition, the Jr. Web Designer needs to plan, implement and execute design and content updates on various Hampton University websites.  This is a temporary position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support University Web Designers.
  • Participate in regular design reviews to optimize and enhance overall user experience.
  • Execute design and content updates on various website properties, and participate in strategy and planning on on-going basis.
  • Assist and execute basic updates to various website properties.
  • Review tasks within project management teams to ensure milestones are being met by the task contributors for digital projects.
  • Identify and troubleshoot digital project issues and bottlenecks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple, concurrent projects and deliverables.

  • Must be able to work well both independently and/or within a team environment. Experience with working in an education environment is a plus.

  • Must have experience with the following systems, languages, and tools: Mac and PC platforms, Adobe Suite.

Qualifications

  • Formal training/education in graphic design and minimum of one to two years’ experience in graphic design, and/or designing and developing website and web marketing content.

  • Desired technical skills and knowledge include: eMail design, web banner design, user-interface design, knowledge of interactive marketing, creativity, and user-focused.

  • Ability to create and manipulate code with strong abilities, utilizing HTML5, CSS/CSS3, XML, and JavaScript Coldfuson is a plus.
