Description
Hampton University is seeking a secretary who will assist the office of the Dean with various administrative and clerical support tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains the Dean’s calendar of meetings, presentations, and deadlines.
- Performs all clerical tasks, including typing, copying, retrieving, sorting and sending mail.
- Assists in the preparation of meetings and events including school and committee meetings organized by the Dean’s Office.
- Manages front desk operations (including answering the telephone and greeting visitors at the reception area).
- Provides information and referrals.
- Prepares presentation materials including power point presentations and handouts.
- Collects and disseminates school-related information.
- Interfaces with repair personnel, vendors, delivery personnel, and equipment-service providers.
- Monitors building upkeep for all buildings in the School.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated initiative and sense of ownership for projects.
- Able to work from Hampton University.
- Able to live in the Hampton Roads area.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
